You will need to have an e-mail account and access to the Internet. All Cuesta students have an email address that comes with their registration. You can access this account by logging onto your Course Studio Account in myCuesta. You will find the email link under the student tab. It is labeled Gmail. Your email address is typically firstname_lastname@my.cuesta.edu. If you already have an email account, I would suggest having the Cuesta email account forward the email to your preferred account. This way you will not miss any important correspondence from your instructors. Check all your personal information to make sure it is current with correct address and phone numbers.

In this class, you will be learning Adobe Acrobat DC Pro. To properly learn the software, you will need access to a licensed version of the software. The Cuesta College Open labs DO HAVE a licensed copy that you can access on campus. If you are limited to working from your home, you can choose one of these options to successfully make it through the material:

  1. You can purchase an Adobe Creative Cloud License for Students. This will give you the entire Adobe Suite that includes many useful applications including Adobe Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver and many more. The license is good for 1 year and is currently offered through Collegebuys.org or journeyed.com for approximately ($169.99).
  2. Purchase the Adobe Acrobat Pro DC License for Students from collegebuys.org or journeyed.com for ($119.95). This is a full running version and it does not require any subscription.
  3. This option can be risky but it should work. Start the class out using the free Adobe Reader. Many of the initial features are available in both versions. When we get into the more advanced features, you will need to download a copy of the free desktop trial of Adobe Creative Cloud. This trial version is only good for 7 days.

Adobe Acrobat DC Classroom in a Book

By Lisa Fridsma, Brie Gyncild
Published Jun 8, 2015 by Adobe Press

Adobe Acrobat DC Classroom in a Book is a thorough and comprehensive way for students to learn how to reliably create, edit, and sign PDF documents and forms with Adobe Acrobat DC. Each of the 13 lessons in this step-by-step, project-based guide contains a project that builds on their growing knowledge of the program, while end-of-chapter review questions reinforce each lesson. This cross-platform (Mac and Windows) book shows students how to collaborate effectively through electronic reviews, easily share their work across multiple platforms and devices (including via the new Adobe Document Cloud service), and speed up their production and business task workflow with Acrobat DC.
