Biography

I am an instructor in Oceanography, GIS, Geology and Chemistry. I have been teaching for over 20 years. I have a PhD in Geology (Geochemistry emphasis) from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada where I used the geochemistry of stalagmites (cave deposits) for paleoclimate reconstructions.
I am currently working on a project to develop a certification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) at Cuesta College. GIS is a technology that combines data with spatial information to create powerful maps. I want to provide students with an opportunity to learn GIS and other geospatial technologies to give them a leg up in the workforce. This is an expanding technology that will give students access to jobs locally and globally.
When I am not teaching, I love fishing and camping with my family. I spend time in the Sierras every summer in places like Mammoth and Lake Tahoe. I also enjoy hiking on the Central Coast - it such a beautiful place to live!
