Katharine H. Kinsman has practiced law since 1985, concentrating in the areas of corporate and general business law, real estate, environmental, land use planning, construction, affordable housing, Indian and Tobacco law. 

Ms. Kinsman received her Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Bachelor of Science in Economics from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1979, and her Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law, San Diego, California in 1985.  Ms. Kinsman holds an in-active license to practice law in Utah, and an in-active license to practice law in the U.S. Virgin Islands. 

Ms. Kinsman started her legal career as a legal secretary, during which time she received a Paralegal Certificate.  Ms. Kinsman worked as a litigation paralegal for four years, the last two years while attending law school.  Ms. Kinsman has worked in law firms, non-profit entities, as in-house counsel and in the public sector.  Ms. Kinsman also had her own law firm for almost two years, and has provided contract legal services for both sole-practitioners and law firms.

Ms. Kinsman was appointed to the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission where she served two terms, and the Basin Open Space Advisory Committee where she served one year as a community representative. Currently Ms. Kinsman is a member of the State and Local Government Section of the American Bar Association, as well a member of the Land Use Planning and Zoning Committee, and the Native American Law Committee.  Ms. Kinsman is also a member of the Environment, Energy and Resources Section of the  the American Bar Association.

Ms. Kinsman recently completed a Graduate Program at Presidio Graduate School in San Francisco, California and obtained a Certificate in Sustainable Energy Management
