Hello my name is Idona Cabrinha.I live in the central coast and have been teaching at Cuesta since 2011. I teach the following online courses: Mus 236: Music Appreciation World Music, Mus 201: Music Fundamentals and I also teach in the classroom, at the Cuesta San Luis Obispo Campus: Elementary Piano and Intermediate Piano.

I am an Artist in Resident for the Creative Children's Project teaching music at local elementary schools. In 2016-17, I was the choral director at Los Osos Middle School. In addition I teach at my home studio and can also be seen as pianist, accompanist, and vocalist in the area. Education: Bachelor of Arts in Music, from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; Master's of Music, Piano Performance and Pedagogy, from Northwestern University; additional studies: Westminister Choir Conservatory of Music, Vallejo Conservatory of Music: Student of Sylvia Wang, William Spiller; masterclasses with David Buechner, Peter Takacs; pedagogy studies with Francis Larimer; Suzuki pedagogy studies, early childhood educator; extensive experience as pianist and accompanist in West Coast and Chicago areas; former adjudicator in Chicago area; awards and honors: Dorothy L. Pound Award, Northwestern University School of Music Grant, First Place Winner Allied Arts Competition; former Performance Syllabus Chair North Shore Music Teacher's Association; former faculty member: Northwestern University Academy; former lecturer, Class Piano, DePaul University School of Music.
When not at the piano or other music events I enjoy being with my family on the coast as well as cooking, running, playing tennis, hiking and love to travel!
