Survey Your Students
Find out what worked for students
The end of the semester is traditionally the time for instructors to survey students and learn what worked and what didn't work for students; all valuable feedback to use to modify or adjust a future course.
Set up a survey in Canvas the same way you'd set up a Canvas quiz.
Create a new quiz. Use the drop-down menu to select "graded survey," or "ungraded survey," and then set up questions and point values and the survey availability dates (due date) the same way as you would for a quiz.
Anonymous surveys
To create an anonymous survey, make sure to check the box: "Keep Submissions Anonymous," in the "Quiz Type" interface (the same interface where you select the survey type).
Surveys can be graded or ungraded.
- Graded surveys have the option to be anonymous.
- Ungraded surveys do not appear in the Syllabus or the Gradebook.
To view ungraded survey results, open the survey, and then open the "three dot stack" next to the Edit button and select, "Show Student Survey Results."
Keep in mind the availability dates you set for the survey: Set the due date for no later than the last day of the course so all students will have access to complete the survey.
If you prefer to allow students to complete the survey after the course end date, you will need to adjust the course end dates in "Course end date" settings.
