Respondus 4 License Information

Cuesta College has a campus-wide license for the Respondus 4.0 software. Respondus4.0 is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be published directly to our LMS or printed for paper-based exams. Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment and can also be moved from one LMS to another.
 
Additional information about the Respondus software and the Respondus Test Bank Network (a free service that allows instructors to access Respondus-compatible publisher test banks) is available at www.respondus.com/respondus Links to an external site.. 
Our license also permits you to install a copy of the Respondus software on an office, home or travel computer. However, you are not permitted to provide the Respondus software or the password information to anyone who is not affiliated with our institution. Such an action is a violation of our licensing agreement with Respondus and is also illegal.

Notes About Your Activation Password for 2024-2025

Each year we provide a new “activation password" that can be used to reactivate a copy of Respondus 4 that was previously installed or to install a new copy of the software. 

  • If you have the resource on a campus machine please place an IT ticket to request your license be updated. 
  • If you have the resource installed on your personal machine, please make sure you update your license

 

IMPORTANT: For copies of Respondus 4 that were previously installed, users can update their activation password as follows:

1) prior to August 1, start the application and select File > Update License (if “Update License” isn’t shown, first upgrade to the latest version of the software),

2) after August 1, upon startup, the software will automatically prompt you for the new password.

Please note you CANNOT download the standard version of Respondus 4 from their website since the activation password provided to your institution will only work with the Campus-wide version of this application. 

You can obtain a copy of the Respondus software by requesting a copy from cwilshus@cuesta.edu 
Note to DE Staff; File available for distribution upon request by accessing in Files. 
 
The file you download is named “Respondus4Campus-v409-05”. Locate the file on your hard drive and double-click it to start the Respondus installation program. We recommend that you accept the default settings for where the program is installed. If you wish to have it installed on a campus computer you will need to place an IT ticket through mycuesta.edu. 
 
During the installation process you will be asked to enter the activation details. The information must be entered EXACTLY as follows:
