Using Badgr to distribute digital badges
Use the flexible Canvas modules system to organize your course the skills and knowledge that matters. By awarding Open Badges in Canvas, you can create a portable, visible record for your students of what they actually learned - one that employers and peers can readily understand.
Automatically award module completion badges in Canvas courses to give students meaningful credentials that directly represent the skills and experiences in your course.
You can add Badgr to your course. But the following must be true:
- You must be assigned the teacher role in the course
- You must published the course and modules (see Instructure's How do I create a module?).
First Sign up for a free account. Then Links to an external site.Add Badgr to your course navigation

- Click Settings (left Navigation)
- Click Navigation (tabs at the top)
- Drag "Badges" from the disabled list to the enabled list
- Click Save

- Add a new item to the module by clicking '+'

Use the drop-down menu to select 'External Tool'
- Select the custom link highlighted in blue. The name of the link may vary because it can be set by the staff member who installs Badgr into Canvas. The name shown on your configuration screen will be different than the "api.badgr.io" text shown here.
- Do not change the URL field.
- Use the Indentation feature to organize items within a module.
- Be sure to publish the item when you are ready for students to access it.
- Trigger badge awards Links to an external site. once the course begins.
