Overview

It means just that – taking control over your potential to have a baby. In other words, have a baby when you are ready and capable of loving and taking care of one. There are different birth control methods, and some methods are more effective than others. Other methods do more than prevent pregnancy, they can also protect you from sexually transmitted infections. You may need both a birth control method AND a barrier method to protect you from sexually transmitted infections.
