Overview

Accidents can happen anywhere and anytime. The first response to an accident is the most important. First Aid treatments are actions that a person with limited training can do if someone is ill or injured. First Aid may be as simple as cleaning and bandaging a scrape or being the first person on scene of an accident until emergency response arrives.

In case of life threatening emergency
Call 911

(If you are not sure, best to call and let a professional responder evaluate the injured/ill person)

Here are some situations that could require first aid:

  • Asthma emergencies
  • Anaphylaxis – severe allergic reaction
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Diabetic emergencies
  • External bleeding
  • Environmental emergencies
  • Heart Attack
  • Poisoning
  • Neck, head and spinal injuries
  • Stroke
  • Seizure
  • Minor cuts and scrapes

Remember the “3Ps” when deciding to give First Aid

  1. Prevent further injury
  2. Preserve life
  3. Promote recovery

First Aid Saves Lives. Taking immediate action and applying the appropriate techniques, while waiting for professional help, can considerably reduce deaths and injuries, and the impact of disasters and everyday emergencies.
