Welcome students!  My name is Laurie Ladd, and I look forward to working with you this semester.  This course is a 4 unit USC and SCU transferable class in research and writing.  It will instruct you in research strategies and stretch your skills as a writer and thinker.

What you should know

  • There are weekly face to face meet times for this class, but your assignments will all be submitted on line, so most of the course is completed on Canvas.
  • Our meetings are flexible as we will discuss during our first class.  Our designated times are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 at Arroyo Grande High School Room 906, but not all meetings will be mandatory.  At these meetings, we will go over the upcoming assignments and work together getting started.  I'll be able to address your concerns, clarify directions and provide face to face help with your work.
  • You should expect to log on to Canvas 3-4 days a week during the 18 weeks for announcements, scores and assignments.
  • Log on days are flexible.  Check the due dates and manage your time around your own schedule.
  • I will always be available for instruction through the Inbox feature in Canvas.  I will also communicate several times a week by posting announcements that you can easily view on your Canvas Home Page.
  • If you are new to Canvas, it will not be difficult for you to figure out.  I have a quick and easy Canvas training set up that will take you through the process, and we will go over the process at our first meeting.
