Welcome to Managerial Accounting at Cuesta College.

My name is Grant Trexler and I'll be your instructor this semester.

My contact information is grant_trexler@cuesta.edu and 805-441-7460.

I have been teaching at Cuesta for about four years now. I have taught both Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting and both in face to face and online formats. Since I have a full-time job, online works much better for me and I had to stop teaching face to face about two years ago.

I am a product of the community college system receiving an A.A. from Mt. San Antonio College down in Walnut, CA. I have an undergraduate degree in Ag Business and a MBA from Cal Poly and then went back to school after eighteen years of work and earned a PhD from Texas A&M University. I have also taught at Cal Poly and Texas A&M.

My background includes nine years as an auditor with one of the "Big Four" accounting firms, including some time spent in the National office as well as two years in mergers and acquisitions. Following my time as an auditor, I went to a company that was growing 200% per year and took the company through an Initial Public Offering (listing their stock on NASDAQ), and worked as the CFO for two companies prior to going back for my PhD. I then worked in Administration at Texas A&M and Cal Poly for about 14 years before joining my current company (Gaine Technology) in December 2018. Gaine is a local software company here in SLO that is growing about 20% per year. I was employee number 32 and now we have over 70 employees.

I am married, live in SLO over by Cal Poly, have three children and two grand children. For fun I like to work on things around the house (I'm pretty handy, earlier in my life I completed a 400 sq. ft. addition over our garage and did everything except the framing and one 220 volt split at the fuse box) and my 1969 VW Bug Convertible. I love to travel and see new countries.
