About Me
¡Hola! Soy Profesor Langer and I have been teaching Spanish at the college level for over 20 years, and the last 10 years here at Cuesta College. I am also a SLO local and began my academic career at Cuesta. When I was a student here at Cuesta I had no idea what I wanted to study and Spanish was the only class that I liked. I met with a counselor and they said that I could major in Spanish. After that, I transferred to UCSB where I became fascinated with linguistics, which is the study of languages. When I graduated, I still didn't know what I wanted to do, so I kept studying at UC Davis, earning an MA and PhD in Spanish Linguistics. I have lived and studied in Spain and Argentina, along with traveling to other Spanish-speaking countries.
I love teaching and I have taught a variety of courses ranging from beginning to advanced Spanish language classes, writing courses, and graduate courses in linguistics. When I am not working, I am usually chasing my 2 kids around or playing with our puppy. I also enjoy playing chess, playing squash and basketball, traveling, reading, and hiking.
