Get Ready for General Chemistry
Enroll in Chemistry 201P
Preparation for General College Chemistry, Chem 201P
Cuesta College
Do you need chemistry practice before taking Chem 201A? This course is designed for you, a student who meets the prerequisites (high school chem or Chem 210) for Chemistry 201A but needs additional preparation prior to enrolling in those courses. Taking this course will strengthen your mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities for material covered in a high school course.
The class is offered for 9 weeks and is fully on-line.
This class is for you if:
You completed one year of high school chemistry or a college chemistry course AND:
- Your HS teacher showed cat videos all year and you don’t know your As from a mole of atoms,
- It’s been a long time between HS and Chem 201A (2 or more years),
- Your learning in your previous chemistry course was insufficient,
- Have attempted Chem 201A and not passed,
- Need a chemistry refresher before taking Chem 201A, OR
- Are more afraid of word problems than zombies and want practice with math skills.
Students with majors of animal science, food science and nutrition, agriculture, biology, or engineering all may benefit from taking this course to help them succeed in Chem 201A. The course will help with unit conversion, stoichiometry, naming chemical compounds, graphing, and more!
The prerequisites for Chem 201P are grades of ‘C’ or better in:
Math 127 (Cuesta), or 1 year of high school intermediate algebra,
AND
One year of high school chemistry, OR Chem 210FL (Cuesta).
No textbook is required, but students must purchase a $70 access code for on-line homework. The course cost is $92 for 2 units. (contact me if the cost is an issue)
