Exercise Tips
-
Make it fun!
Choose activities you enjoy and you will be more likely to stick with an exercise plan. Like to dance? Walk your dog? -
Make it social.
Start a walking or hiking group, take a PE class at your college. Social ties also improve your performance at school. -
Make it peaceful.
Maybe you need quiet, unplugged, alone time? - Walk or bike somewhere you would usually drive.
- If you’re driving, don’t take the closest parking space.
- How about the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator?
- Set realistic goals. Work with your college health center or physical education department to develop an exercise plan that meets your fitness level.
- No pain no gain? If it hurts, stop. Exercise should challenge you but not hurt you. If you are experiencing pain when you exercise, see your health care provider.
- If you have health problems or have never exercised before, get a health check before starting an energetic exercise routine.
