In the past I found the textbook prices were difficult for many students to manage; therefore, I have created this course as an Open Educational Resource (OER).  The course is available for other colleges to use and apply to their curriculum.

After you register for the class, you will find all activities in the Canvas classroom. There is also a hard copy available for download though the Canvas course room.

Software – This course requires the most recent copy of MS Office.  The book demonstrates techniques for MS Office 2021. As a Cuesta student, you can obtain a free 1-year subscription to Office 365/Office 2021

Click on the link, choose Cuesta College and you will see the special pricing for Cuesta Students.

Online Textbook Resources – I have downloaded the textbook resources for you.  They are included in the first assignment u01a1- INTRO: Introduction and Organization.  The instructions are given on how to download these files.  Each folder downloaded contains the correct student files needed for the textbook resources.

MAC Users - The textbook is designed to cover the Windows operating system.  I have provided some alternative materials for MAC users; however, there are significant differences in the Office 365 program for MAC.  We will be covering MS Excel and MS Access in this class.  There are enough differences in Excel for Mac that it may be easier for you to plan to work on a PC either at one of the Cuesta libraries or another source.  MS Access does not work on a Mac at all during the end of the class when we work on Access you will need to plan an alternative location.

After you have registered for the class you will find you are now registered for Canvas. You will need to follow these steps:

  1. From the Cuesta Website, Click on the Canvas Link
  2. You will be asked for a username and password. That information is the same as you myCuesta username.
  3. You will see all of the classes you are currently enrolled in listed in this area. If you have an additional questions. I suggest reviewing the Canvas Student GuideLinks to an external site..  This is a full summary of what is offered in the Canvas program with quick references to how to start.

Each student is required to follow all school guidelines and comply with all school deadlines including personal responsibility for adding and/or dropping this class. Each student is responsible for obtaining updates or changes to the syllabus and/or assignments for the course.

If you have any further questions prior to the first day of class, please feel free to e-mail me. Otherwise, I will look forward to meeting you on
our scheduled meeting date.
